Since we've both been sick, we decided to do a little experiment since the weather has been REALLY cold. I wanted Cody to watch water freeze to ice. We put a small amount of water in a cup...
Then we placed the cup outside in the freezing temperature!
Well, it took a lot longer than I thought for it to turn into solid ice. We checked on it through the day and it was still water. We finally decided before Cody went to bed to place 2 of his plastic animals in the water so we could defrost them in the morning. When we woke up, this is what he found! We took the block of ice out of the cup and placed it in a bowl. It took 12 hours for the ice to form and only 3 hours for the entire thing to melt in the bowl. He had a great time learning about how extreme cold makes a liquid turn into a solid.
Please forgive the pictures. I still don't have my computer so I had to use my camera phone and email the pictures since I can't install the camera drivers to Dennis's work computer. BUT the computer will be here on Saturday!! YIPPEE!!
